Letter: Recognize Trump’s hypocrisy

To Sen. Lee, Sen. Romney, Rep. Bishop, Rep. Stewart and Rep. Curtis:

I can understand the very principled single-issue voter who is “pro-life” or “anti-abortion” at all costs. This includes supporting Donald Trump and his highly immoral behaviors relative to the traditional “Christian family values” historically espoused by the Republican Party, myself included.

With Trump’s recent COVID-19 treatment, he has taken a medication in an effort to save his own life that was derived from a human abortion (see the MIT Technology Review article titled “Trump’s antibody treatment was tested using cells originally derived from an abortion”). The hypocrisy, selfishness and lack of principle comes in with the ongoing efforts of the Trump administration to stop the development of this type of lifegiving drug.

To all of the Utah representatives and senators and the principled Trump voter, I call on you to stick to your guns and denounce your support for Donald Trump. Don’t worry, there is no need to support any Democrats, despite that statistically their policies of proactive education and women’s health care reduce abortions more than banning them.

Hypocrisy is a look that nobody wants.
