I always enjoy Geroge Pyle’s commentaries, and the recent “Journalism must also look inward to deal with racism” was an interesting look into the Los Angeles Times' tale of its own racism over the past decades. I did think it was odd that the commentary directly above Pyle’s was by four white students from BYU who had interned at The Tribune. I’m sure they will be excellent, although I can’t imagine that there isn’t a bit more diversity available for hire by The Tribune.
I was also very grateful that Latter-day Saint President Nelson spoke clearly and presciently to its members against racism and how it has absolutely no part in the church. Obviously, this is an issue that needs to be brought to the surface often if we are going to rid ourselves of this horrific buried malady in our society. As your editor said, “More research is needed.” Thanks, Tribune.
