Sen. Mike Lee’s “shot clock” NEPA Accountability and Enforcement Act is a short-sighted gimmick designed to enable mindless exploitation of planet Earth’s natural resources.
The National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA) outlines a carefully designed process that includes the opportunity for all people that might be affected to voice their concerns on actions that impact the land. It involves patient consideration of skillfully collected data, conversation, and compromise, in the noble and necessary efforts to ensure intelligent planning and wise use of the limited resources in our environment.
Natural resources are the actual foundation of healthy economies and healthy human lives. Sen. Lee’s “shot clock” legislation will undermine this foundation. For the sake of our children’s futures, we need the thorough, thoughtful and mindful planning process provided by NEPA to remain intact.
The “shot clock” legislation is evidence that Sen. Lee is willing to exploit the future of his constituents and their children to lick the boots of greedy industrialists for short-term economic gain. I implore you all to ignore this misguided legislation.
