Letter: The politicians are playing you

(Carolyn Kaster | AP) Democratic presidential candidate former Vice President Joe Biden speaks in Wilmington, Del., Friday Sept. 4, 2020.

During both the Democratic and Republican conventions, it was stated “this is the most important election in the history of our country” and “the soul of our nation is at stake with this election.” I’m calling bullhockey on that. They said that before the last election, and the election before that, and the election before that.

The liberals would have you believe that if Donald Trump gets reelected, then he is going to destroy what’s left of America. If Joe Biden gets elected, then the conservatives want you to know that we are on the road to anarchy in this country.

Wake up, America. You are getting played (again). I have been paying attention to politics my whole life. It is always the same. They have to be at odds with each other, no matter what.

It is like a debating competition: each debater has to prepare to argue for both sides of the topic. It is a flip of the coin which side they get to argue. Ever notice that each side is always opposed to what the other side did or didn’t do?

I postulate that if Donald Trump had come out and mandated a shut down of the country in March this year over the pandemic, Racheal Maddow and Don Lemon, et al., would have screamed he was ruining the economy with this shutdown, and Fox News would have been saying the president cares about Americans and that is why he is doing this shutdown.

It doesn’t really matter who wins this election. America will get by just fine with either Donald Trump or Joe Biden as president.
