(Rick Egan | The Salt Lake Tribune) The Salt Lake City Public Library, Thursday, Dec. 26, 2019.

There are many in our community who are going the extra mile in order to serve. Among these are workers at our public libraries.

As a patron of the Holladay Branch, I have so appreciated the efforts of the staff to make books available in a safe and convenient manner. Allowing patrons to make a reservation for designated pickup times of books is so appreciated in this time of COVID-19, when books can be a welcome boon, especially to bibliophiles who would suffer greatly without access.

The dedication and professionalism of all the workers at the Holladay Branch have been so impressive, even on these very hot days with minimal access to shade. Thank you to all the wonderful staff – at Holladay and at all the public libraries in the state.

Joan Wolf, Holladay

sltrib.com is now free to access — no subscription required. We made this decision because we believe access to trustworthy, independent news shouldn’t depend on what you can afford — especially as misinformation and AI-generated content continue to rise.

Free to read doesn’t mean free to produce. Our reporters show up every day to ask hard questions and hold powerful institutions to account. That work takes resources.
