It’s not either go to school or stay home with online lessons. Some homes lack appropriate equipment or wi-fi, or have overwhelmed parents. Here’s a workable third option for schooling this fall.
Every neighborhood has church buildings of different faiths with lots of empty classrooms during the week. Be sure the buildings are outfitted with great wi-fi and plenty of computers. Neighborhood children can gather in these classrooms in small age/grade groups, masked and distanced with volunteer parents, student teachers/substitute teachers or other adults who can help supervise school work.
Maybe not as good as schoolrooms with teachers, but better than online at home, and doable.
