I challenge the anti-science party, aka Republicans, to follow the president’s COVID-19 suggestions and send their kids back to school, dine out, go to large parties (including Trump rallies), and renounce any medical procedures including surgeries, prescriptions, setting broken bones, etc. In fact, they really should be proud card-carrying Republican Science Deniers (RSD) that will inform first responders not to bother if they’re in an accident, having a heart attack, exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms, etc., and drop their health insurance. They don’t need it. They’re already promoting Trump’s gut feelings and anti-science bidding, so why not live by example and rely solely on hopes and prayers? To do otherwise is dishonest.

sltrib.com is now free to access — no subscription required. We made this decision because we believe access to trustworthy, independent news shouldn’t depend on what you can afford — especially as misinformation and AI-generated content continue to rise.

Free to read doesn’t mean free to produce. Our reporters show up every day to ask hard questions and hold powerful institutions to account. That work takes resources.
