Letter: Lawmakers do not care about us
(Rick Bowmer | AP file photo) Sen. Dan McCay, R-Riverton, speaks during a news conference Thursday, Jan. 24, 2019, in Salt Lake City.
Utah State Sen. Dan McCay was recently quoted in The Tribune (“Proposed bill would ban elective abortions in Utah,” Feb. 8): “We tend to overvalue the people that are here and undervalue the people that aren’t here yet.”
This type of attitude perfectly explains why our state Legislature has continually stonewalled Medicaid expansion, failed to pass sensible gun laws and adequately fund education, among other things.
Once you are born, the majority of our representatives don’t care if the overvalued folks needlessly die or wallow in misery.
