Letter: Prayer breakfast no place to be vindictive

(Evan Vucci | AP)President Donald Trump holds up a newspaper with a headline that reads "ACQUITTED" during the 68th annual National Prayer Breakfast, at the Washington Hilton, Thursday, Feb. 6, 2020, in Washington.

At the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington the other day, President Trump took a shot at Sen. Mitt Romney for using his faith as a “crutch” for voting against him. He leveled a similar attack at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

The prayer breakfast was a time for Trump to be thankful for the Senate vote to acquit him of all impeachment charges. He could have been thankful for the positive economy the country has experienced. He could have asked for prayers for the world to fight the coronavirus.

Prayers do heal as well help people make important decisions.

There was no need to be vindictive. It was a time for prayer.
