Letter: Members of Congress should represent all of us

(Julio Cortez | AP file photo) The U.S. Capitol building, is seen next to the bottom portion of the Washington monument, center, before sunrise on Capitol Hill in Washington, Thursday, Dec. 19, 2019.

Over the past few weeks, the Public Forum section of this newspaper has contained an avalanche of letters demanding that our U.S. congressional members impeach, convict and remove Donald Trump from the presidency, citing all kinds of dire consequences to our Constitution and republic if they fail.

Is it impertinent to remind them that these senators and congressmen are sent to Washington to represent all of us in Utah, not just those who write impassioned hate mail?

sltrib.com is now free to access — no subscription required. We made this decision because we believe access to trustworthy, independent news shouldn’t depend on what you can afford — especially as misinformation and AI-generated content continue to rise.

Free to read doesn’t mean free to produce. Our reporters show up every day to ask hard questions and hold powerful institutions to account. That work takes resources.
