Letter: Greta Thunberg’s U.N. speech is something to behold
(Jason DeCrow | AP) Environmental activist Greta Thunberg, of Sweden, addresses the Climate Action Summit in the United Nations General Assembly, at U.N. headquarters, on Monday, Sept. 23, 2019.
This week has been astounding.
Greta Thunberg, the 16-year-old Swedish climate activist who took time off from school to devote herself to the climate crisis, gave a compellingly erudite speech before the U.N. this week.
President Trump addressed the U.N. the next day. It was boring and tedious. His delivery was predictable, extolling the virtues of his presidency. His demeanor was dour and he delivered every sentence ending each phrase in an inaudible fade.
If you would like to have your spirits lifted in this time depressing politics, Google Greta Thunberg. Listen to her speech before the U.N. She is brilliant and eloquent, perhaps a hope for the future.
