Letter: Trump consorts with his dictator friends

(Korean Central News Agency/Korea News Service via AP) In this Sunday, June 30, 2019, photo provided by the North Korean government, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, right, bids farewell to U.S. President Donald Trump, left, and South Korean President Moon Jae-in, at the border village of Panmunjom in Demilitarized Zone. Korean language watermark on image as provided by source reads: "KCNA" which is the abbreviation for Korean Central News Agency.

Current squawking among President Trump’s circle, and among allegedly “conservative” right-wing rah-rah types over what they decry as “socialism” among Democrats, may be baseless and flatly ignorant.

Since the days of the John Birch Society, there has been a scale “progressing” from libertarian corporate-dominance, to “capitalism,” to socialism, and ultimately to communism and the autocratic dictatorship condition that accompanies communism.

Trump, meanwhile, chooses to consort with his best friends, the arch-communists of our day, Putin of Russia, Kim of North Korea and Xi of China, all members of the communist hard core, several steps beyond the socialist impulse to employ community-oriented solutions to the issues that corporate society seems not to want to address: sub-living wages, lack of health care, responsible environmental practices, ignorance of science generally, and of global climate change specifically.

Anything driven by investments, such as mining in precious places, is fine with investors, who suspend knowledge, databases and conscience for the sake of generally tax-free income.

Enter socialism, which seeks to remedy these evils and irresponsibilities, selectively, in a targeted way. Putin, Kim and Xi, though communist tyrants, must be Trump’s “type.” Perhaps they should watch their trousers when they are around this avowed rapist.

Or could it be that Trump is engaged in a grand diversion, occupying our attention while family members in his cartel divert untold wealth from the U.S. Treasury to create the richest family in human history? What better tool than an outlandish, egomaniacal “Donald,” communism be damned, who breaks law after law and refuses to let us see the accounting in his tax returns, fraudulent though they are likely to be?
