Letter: Judging only the cowards you don’t like

(Amy Beth Bennett | South Florida Sun-Sentinel | AP) Former Broward Sheriff's Office deputy Scot Peterson and his defense attorney Joseph DiRuzzo appear in court during a hearing in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Thursday, June 6, 2019.

Former Deputy Scot Peterson is being charged with a crime and is reviled by his nation because of his cowardice, refusing to engage the gunman who was attacking the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in February, 2018.

Most of those making the judgment have never faced such fear and have no idea what they would do in a similar situation. As a military career officer, I see little difference between what Peterson did and what was done by every draft dodger. This makes our current commander in chief a coward five times over.

How many of those who despise Peterson voted for Trump, and will vote for him again? It's the height of hypocrisy to despise only the cowards you don't like.
