Letter: There is room for two flags
(Francisco Kjolseth | Tribune file photo) The Pride flag is raised at the Salt Lake City and County Building on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, for the start of Pride Week festivities.
I applaud Chuck Sharp in his May 29 letter to the editor showing support for our country and our servicemen and women by flying the American flag on Memorial Day.
Like Mr. Sharp, I fly my American flag on Memorial Day and other days that celebrate our country. I also fly my rainbow flag during Pride Week to show love, acceptance and support for Salt Lake City’s wonderful LGBTQ individuals and community (Thank you, Project Rainbow Utah.)
When those events coincide, I proudly fly both flags because my support and love for my country and my LGBTQ neighbors are not mutually exclusive. It’s not either/or.
Renee Zollinger, Salt Lake City
