The Yom Hashoah (Holocaust Remembrance) Memorial ceremony was held May 2 at the Jewish Community Center in Salt Lake City. Lt. Gov. Spencer Cox read Gov. Gary Herbert’s proclamation that our state would commemorate the world’s unspeakable events, this month.
The ceremony recognized and introduced survivors, their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, witnesses, partisans and World War II veterans.
I am confident that our community and our children would have benefited greatly, if the Governor’s Proclamation and the Yom Hashoah Observance had been widely acknowledged.
As our nation prepares to observe Memorial Day, it is my hope that each of us will proclaim “Never forget,” as we did on May 2.
