Letter: No more ski trips to Utah

(Francisco Kjolseth | Tribune file photo) People enjoy a day at a Utah ski resort following a series of storms that piled on inches of snow in the high country.

My wife and I have enjoyed annual ski trips to Salt Lake City and the Canyons since 1984. In particular we have appreciated the ability to dine at one of your increasingly fine brewpubs and then drive back to our hotel.

Because of your new 0.05 driving law, we can no longer do that.

Evidence suggests that this will have no effect on safety. But it will have an effect on your tourist industry.

This month we skied at home in California. Next year we plan to go to Colorado.

sltrib.com is now free to access — no subscription required. We made this decision because we believe access to trustworthy, independent news shouldn’t depend on what you can afford — especially as misinformation and AI-generated content continue to rise.

Free to read doesn’t mean free to produce. Our reporters show up every day to ask hard questions and hold powerful institutions to account. That work takes resources.
