I would like to thank the person who wrote a letter to The Public Forum, published in the Feb. 21 Salt Lake Tribune. She talked about caring for the disabled first.

At the age of 13, I was diagnosed with full spectrum autism. On top of that, I also have severe anxiety. While I have come a long way, I still have my limits. Developmental disabilities cannot be cured.

In my view, the Legislature not passing the Medicaid expansion not only ignores the will of the voters, but they are also signaling that they believe developmental disabilities can be cured.

The Legislature made it clear that it does not care about people like me, and it shows by what it did with Medicaid. However, they have no problem giving themselves free parking down at the Capitol.

I am glad to know that there is someone out there who cares and understands developmental disabilities. It is not an easy thing to live with.
