I’m really disappointed with Jordan School District’s surveys for the naming and choosing of a mascot for the new high school in Herriman. The name and mascot should have been chosen with separate surveys, instead of pairing them together.
It seems to many of us that the surveys and the entire choosing process were manipulated. They said they were narrowing down the choices and then they chose Sentinels for the mascot. Was it ever on any besides the last survey?
A lot of kids wanted the Raptors, as in velociraptors. What kid would ever choose Sentinels — someone who stands watch? What will the kids do at games to show their spirit? Stand silently at attention?
And the name, Mountain Ridge? Already taken multiple times. Please don't pretend you want student input when you really don't.
