Letter: Keep up the pressure on Congress to take action on tuberculosis

(Steve Griffin | The Salt Lake Tribune) Rep. Chris Stewart, R-Utah, makes his opening remarks during his town hall meeting at the West Valley City Hall in West Valley City Wednesday May 2, 2018.

I suggest contacting those who represent us in Congress about battling the world’s No. 1 infectious killer: tuberculosis (“Rep. Chris Stewart can help eradicate tuberculosis” by Allison Krenzien, The Salt Lake Tribune, Aug. 5).

While this pandemic only took about 1,000 lives in America, it must be treated globally to keep all of us safe. One hundred members of the House also sent a bipartisan letter to the president calling for high-level political engagement at the upcoming UN High Level Meeting on TB in September.

Our calls and letters to our representatives supporting these initiatives can help defeat this deadly pandemic.

Willie Dickerson, Snohomish, Wash.
