Letter: How about a military parade along the border with Mexico?

(Evan Vucci | The Associated Press) In this April 5, 2018, photo, President Donald Trump gives a thumbs up during a roundtable discussion on tax policy in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va. Trump was having it both ways over the past week, portraying a "crisis" at the Mexico border that demands the use of National Guard troops while boasting of a huge drop in illegal border crossings there.

Here are some of my random thoughts. Random thought #1: We should declare our entire border with Mexico to be a military parade route. They could continually march along the border, turning around and going the other way each time they reach either the east or west end of the border. That way Trump gets border patrols and his parade all at the same time. They would need a couple of aerial tankers to refuel the fighters and bombers, but hey, what a show! And it would still be cheaper than his wall. I’m only joking.

Random thought #2: If a young man with Down syndrome has to sue the Boy Scouts to get the Eagle badge he earned, I’m sorry I was ever a Boy Scout.

Random thought #3: The LDS Church says they trust the court system to sort out the sex scandal at the Missionary Training Center. The only reason the suit is in the court is that the LDS Church could not be trusted to sort it out in the first place. Is something a little amiss there? Are the people who didn’t sort it out before now “accomplices?”

Never a boring day in Utah!
