Letter: Democrats, take heed: When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty

It’s widely claimed Trump has Democrats ”just” where he wants them as he leverages his 1.8 million Dreamer approval offer in exchange for a $25 billion anachronistic wall and oblique “chain-migration” ban.

In the Declaration of Independence, Jefferson said that when faced with a “long train of abuses” with the goal of pursuing despotism, it is the duty of the people to “throw off such government.” Implicit here is when injustice becomes law resistance becomes duty. Well, Democrats, pass DACA and whatever else the genius-in-chief puts forward in his effort to satisfy his immoral base-satisfying instincts.

Thereafter, productively “resist” this despot and his fellow oligarchs until November when Democrats strategically could assume a majority in both houses of congress and functional bipartisan governing hopefully returns.
