Letter: Rep. Stewart now just another member of the crackpot conspiracy party

Can we all agree that Chris Stewart is too dumb to sit on the House Intelligence Committee? He looks awful wearing the tinfoil hat his comment about President Dangerfield evokes. His quote in Taylor Anderson’s Jan. 24 article about “the politicalization of agencies like the FBI, the Department of Justice and frankly, in my opinion, worst of all, the CIA” being “turned into political operatives” shows him to be a mindless member of GOP crackpot conspiracy caucus.

If anyone has infiltrated our security establishment, it’s my fellow Mormons.

As Gary Williams, head of the BYU Asian studies department, told the Daily Universe in 1981, the Y “never had any trouble placing anyone who has applied to the CIA.” Williams added, “Every year, they take almost anybody who applies.” Maybe my congressman is looking under the wrong bed in his attempt to discredit conscientious public servants who believe no president is above the law. Here’s hoping Second District citizens remember in November.
