Utah House Rep. Ryan Wilcox, a Republican, has served in the Legislature twice, first from 2008 through 2014 and again representing House District 7 since 2021. This year, he faces a challenge from Democratic nominee Bianca Mittendorf.

According to his legislative website, Wilcox currently serves on the Higher Education Appropriations Committee, the Business Labor and Commerce Committee, Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Committee, Rules Committee and Legislative Process Committee. Much of his legislative agenda in recent years has been focused on law enforcement issues.

Mittendorf has focused her campaign on affordable housing, childcare access and strong public schools. On her campaign website, she describes herself as a “dedicated public education professional.”

The Salt Lake Tribune invited both candidates to answer a questionnaire featuring reader questions about affordability, government corruption, water resources and their stances on two constitutional amendments included on the ballot this year. Neither Wilcox nor Wittendorf responded.

Election Day is Nov. 3. Mail ballots must be dropped off at a ballot dropbox by 8 p.m. on Election Day or, if returned by mail, must be received by the county clerk by 8 p.m. on Election Day.
