‘You can call me a whore, but, dude, you cannot call me cheap’: Utah Rep. Chris Stewart responds to mean tweets

(Francisco Kjolseth | The Salt Lake Tribune) Congressman Chris Stewart visits the majority caucus meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018.

Utah Rep. Chris Stewart laughed as he looked at the tweet on his phone.

The message: “You suck.”

“That’s from my mom,” the congressman said with a smile. He was only kidding.

In a rip from the popular “Jimmy Kimmel” segment where celebrities read mean tweets about themselves, Stewart was actually responding to a couple of harsh messages constituents posted about him on social media.

Among the messages in the two-minutes video posted Thursday? “You’re a roach.” “Shut your cakehole.” “Do you care about the Constitution at all?”

One person said Stewart was “not only a whore accepting blood money but a cheap whore to boot.”

“Now look,” he responded, “you can call me a whore, but, dude, you cannot call me cheap.”

At the end of the video, the representative jokes that it’s all “part of the American dialogue.”
