Jet-car speed racer Jessi Combs has died in a crash in Oregon's Alvord Desert while trying to break a land-speed record. The Harney County Sheriff's Office confirmed Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2019 that Combs died in the single-car crash in a dry lake bed in the remote desert around 4 p.m. Tuesday. The 36-year-old Combs was known as the "fastest woman on four wheels" for setting a land-speed record of 398 mph.
