The wait is almost over for anyone wondering when the new Trader Joe’s location in Riverdale will open. The company announced Tuesday the store will welcome customers Friday, starting at 9 a.m.
A ribbon-cutting at 8:55 a.m. will precede the opening at 4060 S. Riverdale Road, the company said in a news release.
To staff the store, Trader Joe’s hired more than 70 employees from the area and brought in others from existing stores, the company said.
The new location, which Riverdale’s mayor announced in December and Trader Joe’s confirmed in June, will be the sixth of the company’s stores in Utah. It will join Trader Joe’s locations in Cottonwood Heights, Draper, Orem and Salt Lake City, which has one in Sugar House and one on 400 South near 600 East.
Trader Joe’s has announced two other stores in the works. The company confirmed a location in Herriman last week, after the city broke the news in a Facebook post. The company’s plans to open a store in Holladay became public in May, when the Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Services’ commission approved an off-premises beer retailer license — though the company did not confirm the location until July.
