An eighth Trader Joe’s is coming to Utah, the city of Herriman announced Thursday with a video on its Facebook page.
The video features Herriman’s yeti mascot munching on Trader Joe’s-branded snacks to the Bill Withers song “Lovely Day.” In the video’s final seconds, a message appears over the white monster: “Trader Joe’s coming to The Commons at Herriman Towne Center.”
Nakia Rohde, a spokesperson for Trader Joe’s, confirmed the company is planning to open a store in the city. Rohde did not provide an opening date — a common practice for the company, which historically doesn’t divulge when stores open until just before they do.
In June, the company announced it will open a store in Riverdale — months after the city’s mayor announced it in December. In May, the Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Services’ commission approved an off-premises beer retailer license for a Trader Joe’s in Holladay, but the company didn’t confirm that store until July.
Rohde said she could not confirm when either the Riverdale or Holladay stores would open.
The Herriman store would be the eighth Trader Joe’s to open in Utah. Besides the still-to-open Riverdale and Holladay locations, the grocery chain has stores in Cottonwood Heights, Draper and Orem, plus two in Salt Lake City — one on 400 South near 600 East, the other in Sugar House.
