(Trent Nelson | The Salt Lake Tribune) First lady Jill Biden waves goodbye to teachers at Glendale Middle School in Salt Lake City on Wednesday, May 5, 2021. Biden will visit another Salt Lake City school Tuesday afternoon.

First lady Jill Biden is coming to Utah.

Biden and U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy will visit a Salt Lake City area school Tuesday afternoon to “celebrate educators and highlight the importance of educator wellness,” according to a White House news release. The name of the school was not identified.

They’ll be joined by Utah’s own first lady, Abby Cox, before Biden departs for two fundraising events that evening for husband Joe Biden’s reelection campaign in Park City.

In a May 2021 trip to the Beehive State, Biden visited with students at Glendale Middle School and thanked teachers for their work during the COVID-19 pandemic. She also spoke with first responders and attended a vaccination clinic during the trip.

Biden worked as a classroom educator for over 30 years, according to her White House bio, and obtained a doctorate in educational leadership in 2007. She currently teaches at Northern Virginia Community College.

Biden is expected to land in Utah at around 2 p.m. but will fly to California later in the evening, according to the release.
