2 dead after fire, shooting in eastern Utah, police say

The Naples Utah Police Department reported finding two dead adults in two incidents.

The Naples Utah Police Department reported finding two dead adults in two incidents, one found in a fire and one found in a residential care facility. “A suspect has been identified, and law enforcement is certain there is no active threat to the community,” the police said.

On Sunday, the Vernal City fire and police departments were sent to a residential fire in the town. While firefighters fought the fire, the body of a man was found, who investigators later identified as 42-year-old Mark Ryan Bingham, a Vernal resident.

While that investigation was underway, Naples police and emergency medical teams arrived at a residential care facility in that smaller city, adjacent to Vernal. There, police say 72-year-old Patricia Bingham was found “beyond lifesaving efforts,” with a gunshot wound.

The police didn’t release any more information.
