Delta Air Lines plans to give passengers a new place to relax at SLC airport

The new Sky Club will give Delta passengers another option to kick back after making it to concourse B.

Delta Air Lines passengers who make the trek to Salt Lake City International Airport’s B gates are getting a new place to kick up their feet and relax before boarding a flight.

The airline intends to open a new Delta Sky Club on concourse B in 2025, an official with the carrier told attendees of a Thursday event hosted by 47G, the organization formerly known as the Utah Aerospace and Defense Association.

When it opens, the lounge will be Delta’s second at the Salt Lake City airport. The first lounge debuted when the new airport opened in 2020.

It’s not uncommon for Delta’s stateside hubs and key markets to have multiple Sky Clubs. Airports in New York, Boston, Los Angeles, Detroit and Minneapolis all boast more than one of the lounges. In Delta’s hometown of Atlanta, the carrier offers passengers a whopping nine Sky Clubs.

The announcement of a second lounge in Salt Lake City represents one more piece in the company’s plan for long-term growth in Utah, where it employs more than 5,000 people.

Late last year, Delta signed a lease extension, guaranteeing it will remain a hub carrier in the Beehive State until at least 2044.

The contract, which includes an option to extend the lease by another decade beyond 2044, will allow Salt Lake City International Airport to polish off construction on concourse B. When that work is done in 2027, Delta is slated to occupy more than a third of the concourse. The airline already occupies all of concourse A.

In January, Delta announced it would take over the naming rights of the Utah Jazz’s downtown home, reviving the Delta Center. By summer, the company had broken ground on a pilot training facility just west of the airport.

By the time the company’s second lounge opens in Salt Lake City, travelers will have access to a shorter journey to the B gates. The airport’s Central Tunnel is due to open in October 2024.
