Utah Amber Alert: 14-year-old girl found in Texas

Police say a suspect is in custody.

A 14-year-old girl who was the subject of an Amber Alert issued Tuesday morning was found in Texas later that day, FOX 13 reports.

Unified police said a suspect was taken into custody in connection with the case but didn’t specify whether the person was David Lopez, (aka Amilsar Vasquez), who authorities had said kidnapped the girl Monday morning.

Police spokesperson Melody Cutler had said that the two apparently met on social media; investigators believed Lopez had traveled to Utah from Texas to pick her up. Police initially reported that the girl had run away around 6:40 p.m. Monday.

In Utah, Amber Alerts are issued for children 17 or younger when law enforcement believes that a child either has been abducted or faces “imminent danger of serious bodily injury or death,” according to a webpage with more information about Tuesday’s alert.
