Man shot to death in Magna, and his wife is arrested

The suspect says she fired the gun in self defense.

A Magna man was shot to death early Monday and his wife is in custody, according to Unified police.

The suspect called police about 12:30 a.m. and said she shot her husband. When officers arrived at Vincent’s House of Goju at 9145 W. Main Street, they found the body of Michael Vincent, 57, on the floor just inside the business, with a gun next to him. Attempts to revive him were not successful.

According to police, the suspect said she shot her husband in self defense after he assaulted her and tried to strangle her. However, her injuries were not consistent with her story, police said — she suffered only a scratch to her chin — and she was arrested.

The shooting remains under investigation.
