A woman who died in a canyon in Zion National Park over the weekend has been identified as 26-year-old Cassidy Brown of Springdale.
Washington County Sheriff’s Office is investigating her death but said in a news release that there is no evidence to suggest it wasn’t a “tragic recreational accident.”
Park visitors reported on Saturday that they found a woman who had fallen 50-80 feet in Mystery Canyon. The steep canyon walls prevented a rescue helicopter from being able to get Brown out. Park medics reached Brown just before she died from her injuries. Her body was recovered by Park Rangers on Sunday.
