Snow is coming to Utah on Friday and Saturday, with “significant accumulations” in the mountains — as much as 12 to 18 inches — and “potential accumulations” in the valleys, according to the National Weather Service.
The forecast high in Salt Lake City is 42 on Thursday and again on Friday, but temperatures will drop as the storm moves in. There’s a 50% chance of snow on Friday, mainly after 11 a.m., with accumulations of less than an inch possible during the day.
But that’s just the prelude. The possibility of snow rises to 80% on Friday night, when 2 to 4 inches could fall. Then it rises to 90% on Saturday, with another 3 to 5 inches possible.
The high on Saturday will be about 36, with an overnight low of 23. And, yes, there could be a bit more snow — less than half an inch.
The forecast calls for total snow accumulations of 4-9 inches in Park City; 2-3 inches in Ogden; 2-4 inches in Logan; 1-4 inches in Tooele; 2-4 inches in Provo; 1-3 inches in Nephi; and 2-4 inches in Cedar City.
Sunday’s forecast is for partly sunny skies with a high of 32 and a low of 21 in the Salt Lake City area. And then another storm is headed to Utah — there’s a chance of snow on Monday and Tuesday, with highs in the low to mid-30s and lows in the low 20s and high teens.
According to the NWS, there’s a 50% chance of rain in the St. George area on Friday; a 70% chance on Friday night; and a 50% chance on Saturday. Highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s are expected.
There’s also a chance of rain and snow in southern Utah from Monday to Wednesday.
