Tooele fire homicide victim identified

The Tooele County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man who was found by wildfire crews last Saturday after a fire in Soldier Canyon as Vincent Howard Beazel, 60.

Firefighters were called to Tooele County because of a fire that began at 12:35 p.m. and caused the canyon to be evacuated. They found Beazel’s body at the edge of the flames. Deputies who came to investigate the dead body had to wait until the fire was contained to process the scene, according to a news release.

The Sheriff’s Office said Beazel died because of a gunshot wound. A white, late 1990s-model Honda Accord was found abandoned close to the scene.

Authorities are looking into whether the death and the fire are connected.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information to contact Detective Light at 435-277-4212 or Lt. Norberto Aranda at 435-277-4254.
