Provo man says he thought he shot an intruder. It was a member of his family.

One person is in critical condition after being shot at home by a Provo man who thought he was shooting an intruder.

Provo police have released little information about the shooting — including the gender of the victim — but said they received a call about 5:15 a.m. Tuesday morning from a man who said he shot someone he believed had broken into his house, near 1600 West and Center Street. But, it turned out, he shot an adult member of his own family.

The victim was taken to a hospital. Police are continuing to investigate the shooting.
