West Jordan police arrest suspect in fatal hit and run

West Jordan police have arrested a man who allegedly ran over and killed a truck owner who was trying to retrieve his stolen vehicle.

The 31-year-old suspect has been booked into the Salt Lake County jail for investigation of murder and theft by receiving stolen goods, pending formal charges.

According to police, the victim — 61-year-old Robert Holladay of West Jordan — located a truck that had been stolen from him in the area of 9300 South and 1600 West on Sept. 3. Holladay got out of the vehicle he was driving, opened the door to the stolen truck and confronted the victim, attempting to “regain access to the vehicle.” The suspect “ran over the victim with the stolen vehicle and then fled the scene.”

The suspect is being held without bail.
