Searchers recovered the body of a Utah man from Bear Lake on Sunday, a day after he fell from an inflatable tube on the Idaho side of the lake.

According to the Bear Lake County Sheriff’s Office, search teams located the body of Martin T. Garcia, 27, of Logan, at 1:05 p.m. on Sunday. On Saturday evening kayakers saw Garcia fall from the tube, struggle in the water and go under, and their attempts to rescue him were unsuccessful.

Search and rescue crews began looking for Garcia’s body that night, but the search was suspended because of darkness and resumed at 6 a.m. on Sunday. His body was detected by sonar and recovered that afternoon.
