A 13-year-old boy who went missing on Monday was struck by a vehicle and killed later that evening in West Valley City, according to the Draper City Police Department.
Draper police on Tuesday had sought the public’s help locating Benjamin Heber, who had walked away from the Salt Lake County Juvenile Receiving Center. Draper police said the boy had been diagnosed with autism, depression and anxiety.
In a tweet, the West Valley Police Department said the fatal collision happened at 10 p.m. Monday at 3850 S. Redwood Road. Heber died at the hospital, the department said, and the driver of the vehicle was described as cooperative. The collision remains under investigation.
