Utah police recapture suspect who escaped from their headquarters

Police in Grantsville on Thursday night said officers caught a drunken driving suspect who a day earlier escaped from officers at their headquarters.

No details were provided on how Jake W. Lowe, 30, escaped or was caught again. About 8 p.m., Grantsville police updated an earlier Facebook post about Lowe with the short phrase: “SUSPECT HAS BEEN APPREHENDED.”

According to the earlier post, officers Wednesday stopped Lowe after he was unable to keep his car in its lane. The officers arrested him on suspicion of drunken driving.

“While at the police department,” the post reads, “Jake was able to escape custody and fled from the police department’s custody.”

Officers thought Lowe fled to a house where he was staying. They served a search warrant there, according to the Facebook post, but couldn’t find him.

Police later suspected Lowe stole a 2003 Toyota Camry from someone else’s garage.
