Man and his puppy caught in truck’s trash compactor in Provo

A man sleeping in a Provo dumpster and his puppy were compacted on Tuesday morning, according to police.

The man suffered minor injuries; the puppy was unharmed.

Provo police tweeted that at about 5 a.m., they were called to investigate a trash-collection truck injury. They discovered that the 43-year-old man and the dog had been sleeping in a dumpster near 950 E. 2100 South when the truck collected it and began to compact the contents.

The truck's operator heard the man call for help and stopped the compaction. The man was transported to Utah Valley Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries and released.

The puppy did not require medical attention.
