A 32-year-old South Jordan man was arrested early Sunday after his brother called police and said his younger sibling had shot him, according to a news release from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.

The two brothers and their families were staying at a hotel in Summit County when the men got into an argument.

The man who was shot says during the dispute, his brother pulled out a gun and began firing it at him. One bullet struck him in the right buttock and the other went into the wall of the hotel room. The shooting victim was treated at a Salt Lake hospital and released.

The 32-year-old man has been charged in 3rd District Court with two counts of discharge of a firearm, second-degree felonies; three counts of domestic violence in the presence of a child and possession of a weapon by a restricted person, third-degree felonies; and three counts of reckless endangerment, class-A misdemeanors.

The man had been booked into the Summit County Jail for investigation of attempted homicide, but he was not charged with that crime. Bail was set at $100,000.
