Police arrest man suspected of killing an Ogden 18-year-old and shooting his brother

Police in Layton arrested a man suspected of killing a 18-year old boy and shooting the boy’s 20-year-old brother four times at their Ogden home on Monday.

The 23-year-old suspect was arrested at an apartment near 200 N. Fairfield Rd., according to Layton police. As of Tuesday night, Ogden police said they were searching for a second suspect but did not provide further detail.

Ogden police have said the shooting happened at 5:35 p.m. Monday at 864 W. Lake Street. Police have not released the names of the victims, although an aunt of the victims confirmed to FOX 13 that the victims were her nephews.

“As far as I know, it was over a girl, that’s all I know,” said Phyllis Lewis, adding that her brother had come home to find his younger son dead and his older son shot “twice in the chest, once in the arm, once in the leg.”

The 20-year-old was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

And earlier version of the story incorrectly identified the victims’ ages as 16 and 22.
