Sorry, Sundance festivalgoers. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez isn’t going to make it to Park City.
Ocasio-Cortez, who was scheduled to see the premiere of the documentary “Knock Down the House” at the film festival on Sunday, tweeted that she had to cancel her trip.
The New York congresswoman cited “complications” related to the partial government shutdown, which ended Friday when President Donald Trump signed a bill to temporarily fund the government for three weeks.
Director Rachel Lears’ “Knock Down the House” chronicles the campaigns of four insurgent female candidates — including Ocasio-Cortez — as they challenged incumbents for seats in Congress.
Jubilee Films, the film’s production company, tweeted it was sad Ocasio-Cortez couldn’t make it, “but you’re needed in Congress right now!”
The documentary will premiere Sunday at 6 p.m. at Park City’s MARC Theatre.
