Skier dies in crash at Brighton

(Francisco Kjolseth | The Salt Lake Tribune) With recent snowfall combined with extensive snowmaking, Brighton Resort opens for the season on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017. Offering a base averaging between 10-20 inches on 3 runs serviced by 2 lifts, “Top to Bottom” skiing and snowboarding begins for snow enthusiasts ready for the season.

Police on Tuesday identified a skier who struck a tree and died Monday at Brighton Resort.

FOX 13, citing the Unified Police Department, reported the skier was 63-year-old Michael Rueckert, of Utah. The station reported witnesses told police the man lost control when he avoided a stopped skier and then struck a tree.
