Here’s the Salt Lake City Marathon route

(Scott Sommerdorf | The Salt Lake Tribune) The first wave of runners leaves the starting line of the Salt Lake City marathon, Saturday, April 21, 2018.

If your Saturday morning plans include avoiding — or admiring — a parade of bibbed athletes, you’ll need a map.

The Salt Lake Marathon route starts at the University of Utah and will take thousands of runners around the Avenues and through downtown to Sugar House, Holladay and Millcreek.

The race starts at 7 a.m. The finish line, at Washington Square, will be taken down at 1:30 p.m.

If avoiding running 26.2 miles is more your speed, here are a couple of stories to read while you’re waiting for the roads to free up:

Utah native Sarah Sellers came out of nowhere to finish second at the Boston Marathon.

Running saved Wendy Newman after her husband died of cancer. Now, she’s competing in the Salt Lake Marathon.
