A woman on a flight to Salt Lake City allegedly threw coffee on passengers, overturned a drink cart and then assaulted an air marshal

A woman was charged in federal court Thursday after an alleged series of disruptions on an airplane flight from London to Salt Lake City culminated in her jumping on the back of a federal marshal.

The woman, 45, is a U.S. citizen living in London.

During the Thursday Delta flight, she allegedly threw coffee on passengers, overturned a drink cart and ran up and down the aisle, according to a news release from the U.S. attorney’s office.

Two air marshals on the plane intervened and the woman was placed in the back of the plane next to one of them.

She was initially cooperative, the news release said, but upon returning from her third trip to the bathroom she jumped on the back of a marshal and grabbed his head and neck.

The woman was pulled off by the second marshal and remained handcuffed for the rest of the flight.

She was charged in Utah’s U.S. District Court with one count of misdemeanor assault and faces up to a year in federal prison if found guilty.
