On the night that Donald Trump delivered his first State of the Union address, the porn star who said she had an affair with the president went on national television — and she continued to play coy about what happened.
Stormy Daniels, appearing on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” refused to say whether she had sex with Trump. She refused to confirm that she was paid to keep her mouth shut about the alleged affair before the 2016 election.
Although the host called into question a statement released earlier Tuesday that offered a categorical “no” over Daniels’ signature — which Kimmel demonstrated did not match other examples of her signature.
“Did you sign this letter that was released today?” Kimmel asked.
“I don’t know, did I?” Daniels replied coyly.
But when he pressed her, she said, “I do not know where [the letter issued Tuesday] came from.”
On Jan. 12, The Wall Street Journal reported that one of Trump’s lawyers paid Daniels $130,000 shortly before the 2016 presidential election to keep quiet about her affair with the then-future president. She has said she had sex with Trump in 2006, shortly after his wife, Melania, gave birth to their son.
Try as he might, Kimmel couldn’t get Daniels to verify anything in the recently released interview she did with InTouch magazine in 2011. The host read from the interview in which Daniels provided details of her sexual encounters with Trump, eliciting a response from her.
“I thought this was a talk show, not a horror movie,” she said.
Daniels also wouldn’t directly answer whether she has a nondisclosure agreement preventing her from talking about Trump — “Do I? — but she didn’t demur when Kimmel pointed out that if she didn’t have an NDA, she’d be able to tell him that.
“You’re so smart, Jimmy,” Daniels replied.
Daniels, whose birth name is Stephanie Clifford, was Kimmel’s second guest Tuesday night, following the star of “Scandal.”
“Kerry Washington is here, and Stormy Daniels is here,” Kimmel said. “Two women who know a thing or two about sex with a TV president.”
Kimmel referred to the 38-year-old Daniels as “an adult film performer” who said in a previous interview “that she could definitely describe Donald Trump’s junk perfectly, if she ever had to. And at long last, that moment has arrived. She has to.”
Well, not exactly. Kimmel asked; Daniels didn’t answer. Except to say, “What is wrong with you?”
“What is wrong with you is the question,” Kimmel replied.
Daniels also declined to select one of three carrots Kimmel presented her to compare to Trump’s, um, anatomy.
About the best he could do was get Daniels to admit that she’d had sex with a married man at a golf tournament, but — again — she wouldn’t admit that it was with Trump.
Kimmel did elicit one bit of news. That Daniels, who — according to the stories about her affair with Trump — wanted him to get her on “Celebrity Apprentice,” has never seen the show.
