Body found in Davis County identified as Farmington woman who has been missing since October

(Courtesy Farmington police department) Jeanne Reid, a 26-year-old with a degenerative brain disease, was last seen Tuesday morning.

A medical examiner has confirmed that a body found Friday by cougar hunters in Davis County is that of a 26-year-old Farmington woman who went missing in October.

Hunters found the body in Shepard Creek Canyon. The family of Jeanna Reid publicly announced they believed the body was Reid’s, but Farmington police and the Davis County Sheriff’s Office had initially said there was too much decomposition to make a definitive identification.

But on Wednesday, Farmington police announced a medical examiner confirmed the body was Reid’s.

Reid was found in rugged terrain, police said, and a helicopter was used to recover her body. The family said on a Facebook page that it appeared Reid had fallen into a river while hiking.

Police do not suspect foul play. Further testing is required to determine the cause of death.
