Welcome (back) to the jungle

It’s been awhile since the explosive early success of Guns N’ Roses, but the band that hit with “Welcome to the Jungle” and other songs is back on tour — with a show Tuesday night, starting at 6:30 p.m., at the Delta Center, 301 W. South Temple, Salt Lake City. Ghost Hounds is the opening act. Tickets are available at DeltaCenter.com.

The game is afoot

Plan-B Theatre returns with its Halloween tradition — “Radio Hour,” a live performance for theater and radio, happening live Friday, at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m., at the Jeanne Wagner Theatre in the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center, 138 W. 300 South, Salt Lake City. The productions also will be broadcast live on “RadioWest,” public radio station KUER’s weekly show. This year’s play is “Sherlock Holmes and the Final Problem,” an interpretation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s legendary detective, written by Utah playwright Matthew Ivan Bennett. “RadioWest” host Doug Fabrizio portrays Holmes, Isabella Reeder plays a gender-flipped Dr. Watson, and Jay Perry plays “the Napoleon of crime,” Prof. Moriarty. Tickets to be in the studio audience are available at planbtheatre.org.

‘Rocky Horror’ on the screen

For some people, it’s not Halloween without seeing the 1975 cult classic “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” in a theater with a crowd of like-minded fans. The Broadway Centre Cinemas, 111 E. 300 South, Salt Lake City, will be hosting screenings on Friday, Saturday and again Halloween night, 10:30 p.m. for each show. The movie will be presented three ways: With a live cast and emcee Susan Steffee (the longest-serving “Rocky Horror” emcee in the country); with a different live cast and emcee Amanda Dusoe; or with open captions and a sing-along (no cast). Tickets are $25 for the live-cast shows, $20 for the sing-along, and include a prop bag; they are available at slfs.org. Some shows are already sold out.
